Evolution Items
The King's Rock is an evolution item in Pokémon GO that evolves two Pokémon:
Poliwhirl into
Politoed and
Slowpoke into
Slowking. Each evolution uses one King's Rock plus Candy.
It's one of the five standard evolution items, alongside the
Sun Stone,
Metal Coat,
Dragon Scale, and
Upgrade. All five can drop from PokéStop spins.
Pokémon That Evolve With a King's Rock
- Poliwhirl → Politoed (100 Candy)
- Slowpoke → Slowking (50 Candy)
Both Pokémon have a second evolution that doesn't need an item. Poliwhirl can evolve into
Poliwrath for 100 Candy, and Slowpoke can evolve into
Slowbro for 50 Candy.
Note:
Galarian Slowpoke doesn't use a King's Rock. It evolves into
Galarian Slowking with 50 Candy and a research task: catch 30 Psychic-type Pokémon.
How to Get a King's Rock
The best repeatable source is spinning PokéStops and Gyms every day. Spins have a small chance to drop an evolution item, and the seventh day of a PokéStop spin streak awards one.

How to Use a King's Rock
- Open your Poliwhirl or Slowpoke.
- Find the Evolve button that shows a King's Rock icon. Both Pokémon have two Evolve buttons, so pick the one for Politoed or Slowking.
- Tap Evolve and confirm. One King's Rock and the listed Candy are used.
