Category
Other Items
Rare Candy is an item in Pokémon GO that turns into Candy for any Pokémon you choose. Each Rare Candy becomes 1 Candy for that Pokémon's evolution family, which you can then spend to power up, evolve, or unlock a second Charged Attack.
Rare Candy XL works the same way but becomes Candy XL, which is needed to power up a Pokémon past Level 40.
How to Get Rare Candy
The most reliable repeatable source of Rare Candy is GO Battle League, where one of the rewards in each set of wins includes 3 Rare Candy.
- Winning GO Battle League battles
- Winning raids, especially Legendary raids
- Completing Field Research, Special Research, or Timed Research tasks
- Event rewards, such as GO Pass tracks
How to Use Rare Candy
- Tap the Poké Ball menu, then "Items".
- Tap Rare Candy.
- Choose the Pokémon whose Candy you want from the list.
- Pick how many Rare Candy to convert, then confirm.
Best Pokémon to Use Rare Candy On
Rare Candy is most valuable for Pokémon whose Candy is hard to earn, such as Legendary Pokémon you can only catch from raids. Common Pokémon are easy to farm Candy for by catching, walking them as your buddy, or transferring, so Rare Candy is usually better saved.
Converting Rare Candy can't be undone, so convert only what you need when you're ready to use it.
