A Gold Bottle Cap is a one-time-use item in Pokémon GO that starts Hyper Training on a Pokémon. Hyper Training lets you raise a Pokémon's Attack, Defense, and HP IVs, all the way to 15, by completing tasks with it as your buddy. The Pokémon's CP rises automatically as its IVs go up.
A 
Silver Bottle Cap works the same way, but it can only raise one stat.
How Hyper Training Works
- The Pokémon must be a Good Buddy or higher.
- Shadow Pokémon can't be Hyper Trained, and neither can Pokémon that already have perfect 15/15/15 IVs.
- Each completed task raises the chosen stat by 1 IV point. Tasks get harder as the stat climbs.
- Attack tasks focus on battling, Defense tasks on playing, exploring, and catching, and HP tasks on exploring, such as spinning PokéStops and earning Buddy Candy.
- You have 365 days from using the Gold Bottle Cap to finish the tasks. IV points you've already earned stay.
- Hyper Trained Pokémon can't be sent to Pokémon HOME.
How to Get Gold Bottle Caps
Gold Bottle Caps are very rare and have only been available as rewards from paid Deluxe GO Pass tracks:
- GO Pass Deluxe: Ancients Recovered (June 2025), the item's debut
- GO Pass: Road of Legends Deluxe (July 2026)
Note: Gold Bottle Caps from these passes expire on a set date shortly after the event, whether or not you've used them. Use yours before it shows up in the "Expiring Soon" section of your bag.
Which Pokémon to Hyper Train
Pick a Pokémon you'll use for a long time and can't easily replace, such as a Legendary Pokémon. Every IV point needs its own task, so a Pokémon that's already close to 15/15/15 needs fewer tasks to finish within the year.
