A Star Piece is a trainer Boost item in Pokémon GO that increases the amount of Stardust earned by 50% for 30 minutes.
Players may use up to 200 Star Pieces at a time to stack the amount of time the Stardust bonus is active. This is useful during events that last multiple hours, preventing the need to remember to refresh the Star Piece.
Players may extend the duration of an active Star Piece bonus by using 
Origin Dialga's Adventure Effect, 
Roar of Time.
How to Get Star Pieces in Pokémon GO
Star Pieces are available in the shop and as rewards for certain Research Tasks.
Winning a Poké Stop Showcase also has a chance to reward a Star Piece.
The Best Times to Use Star Pieces
The Stardust bonus from a Star Piece will stack with other event bonuses. To maximize the amount of Stardust you earn, strategically use Star Pieces during events with big Stardust bonuses, such as Spotlight Hours with double catch Stardust.
Gigantamax Battles reward a large amount of Stardust, so if you are participating in a lot of Gigantamax Battles in short succession this is a great time to use a Star Piece.
The end-of-season GO Battle League rewards include a large amount of Stardust and this amount is increased if a Star Piece is active. These Stardust rewards cap out at rank 20, so try and get to at least rank 20 in the GBL and then activate a Star Piece at the end of the season right before you claim these rewards.
