Who should carry your HMs

About HMs in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire

HMs (Hidden Machines) teach moves that also work outside battle, like Cut for clearing small trees and Surf for crossing water.

Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire have seven HMs. This page shows where to get each one, which badge lets you use it outside battle, and every Pokémon that can learn it. Pick the HMs you need and it finds the fewest Pokémon that can carry them, so the rest of your team keeps four battle moves.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many HMs are in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?

Seven: HM01 Cut, HM02 Fly, HM03 Surf, HM04 Strength, HM05 Waterfall, HM06 Rock Smash and HM07 Dive.

Where do you get each HM in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?

In the order you get them:

  • HM01 Cut: Given at the Cutter’s House in Rustboro City

To use an HM outside battle: Stone Badge for Cut, Dynamo Badge for Rock Smash, Heat Badge for Strength, Balance Badge for Surf, Feather Badge for Fly, Mind Badge for Dive and Rain Badge for Waterfall. In battle, any Pokémon that knows the move can use it, badge or not.

How do you delete an HM move?

Leveling up and TMs can’t replace an HM move, but the Move Deleter can make a Pokémon forget any move, including HMs. You’ll find the Move Deleter in Lilycove City, in the house east of the Department Store.

Which Pokémon can learn the most HMs?

Dragonite, Mew and Arceus learn all seven, but you can’t catch them in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire. Croconaw, Feraligatr, Lugia, Crawdaunt and 8 more learn six.

What’s a good HM helper in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire?

Two Pokémon can carry all seven HMs between them, for example Golduck and Tropius. The helper finder above shows more options for your version and starter.
