Frequently Asked Questions

How do I compare two Pokémon?

Pick a game from the game menu, then pick two Pokémon to see their stats line up side by side. We highlight higher numbers so it's easy to see which Pokémon has the higher stat value. We show only the stats relevant to the game you selected. The main series games show all six base stats, while Pokémon Go shows attack, defense, stamina, and max CP. Scroll down below the stats to see how the two Pokémon's moves overlap.

Which games can I compare Pokémon in?

The Dittobase compare tool supports comparing Pokémon in any game, from Red and Blue to Legends: Z-A and even Pokémon GO. Switch games from the Game menu. We create a unique link based on your selections, so you can share your comparison with friends or bookmark it to come back later.

Can I compare more than two Pokémon?

Yes. Switch to Table to compare up to four at once. Turn on "Differences only" to hide tied stats and the moves each Pokémon shares.

What is max CP?

In Pokémon GO, it’s the highest Combat Power a Pokémon reaches with 100% IVs (15/15/15). To reach its max CP, the Pokémon must be fully powered up using Stardust, Candy, and Candy XL.

What does Elite TM mean?

In Pokémon GO, it means that Pokémon can only get the move with an Elite TM. These legacy moves are often required for the Pokémon to be at its best. Use an Elite Fast TM for a fast move and an Elite Charged TM for a charged move.

What do Lv, TM and the other labels next to a move mean?

In the main series games, they show the easiest way that Pokémon learns the move. Lv 42 means it learns the move at Level 42, Start means it knows the move at Level 1, and Evo. means it learns the move when it evolves. Use the filters above the moves to see only the ones learned one way, like TM.

Why is there only one Special stat?

In Red, Blue and Yellow, one Special stat sets both the power of a Pokémon’s special moves and its defense against them. Gold and Silver split it into Sp. Atk and Sp. Def.

Can I add a Pokémon from Compare to my team?

Yes. Choose Add to under its name, then Add to team. You can add it to your draft, to one of your saved teams for that game, or to a new team. To save it to one of your lists instead, choose Add to list.

Why can’t I find a Pokémon?

Compare only lists the Pokémon you can use in the selected game. If you switch to a game that doesn’t have one of your picks you'll need to select a different Pokémon from the list.
