Pokémon GO Showcase Calculator

Score any Pokémon for a PokéStop Showcase before you enter it.

Enter the height, weight, and size label from your Pokémon’s catch screen. IVs are optional but they’re worth at most 50 of the 1,178 possible points.

Pokémon

Average 0.40 m and 6.00 kg. XXL up to 0.70 m.

Size label

Set from the height. Only labels that fit the height can be picked.

IVs (optional)

Leave blank if you don’t know them. The score then covers every possible IV.

How showcase scores are calculated

Every Pokémon entered in a PokéStop Showcase gets a score, and the highest score wins. The game doesn’t show the math, but trainers have worked it out from game data. A Pokémon’s score is the sum of four parts:

S=800⋅h/hˉk+150⋅w/wˉk+0.5+50⋅IVAtk+IVDef+IVHP45+BXXLS = 800 \cdot \frac{h / \bar{h}}{k} + 150 \cdot \frac{w / \bar{w}}{k + 0.5} + 50 \cdot \frac{\mathrm{IV}_{\text{Atk}} + \mathrm{IV}_{\text{Def}} + \mathrm{IV}_{\text{HP}}}{45} + B_{\text{XXL}}
The showcase score
  • h and w: your Pokémon’s height in meters and weight in kilograms.
  • h̄ and w̄: the species’ average height and weight. These are the values listed in the Pokédex.
  • k: the species’ XXL ceiling, the tallest an XXL can grow as a multiple of its average height. Every species uses 1.55, 1.75, or 2.00.
  • IV Atk, IV Def, IV HP: the Pokémon’s Attack, Defense, and HP IVs, each from 0 to 15.
  • B XXL: the XXL bonus, 178 points for an XXL Pokémon and 0 for everything else.

Height: up to 800 points

Height carries most of the score. The formula compares your Pokémon to the tallest XXL its species can roll, which is k × the average height:

Pheight=800⋅hk hˉP_{\text{height}} = 800 \cdot \frac{h}{k\,\bar{h}}

A Pokémon at the XXL ceiling earns all 800. One of exactly average height earns 800 ÷ k, about 457 points for a species with a 1.75 ceiling. The size labels map to these heights as multiples of the species average:

  • XXS: 0.49× to 0.50×
  • XS: 0.50× to 0.75×
  • No label: 0.75× to 1.25×
  • XL: 1.25× to 1.50×
  • XXL: 1.50× up to k (1.55×, 1.75×, or 2.00×)

Weight: up to 150 points

Weight works the same way, but it’s divided by k + 0.5, the heaviest an XXL can be relative to the species average:

Pweight=150⋅w/wˉk+0.5P_{\text{weight}} = 150 \cdot \frac{w / \bar{w}}{k + 0.5}

XL Pokémon can be heavier than that, up to 2.75× the average, so a very heavy XL can earn more than 150 weight points.

IVs: up to 50 points

PIV=50⋅IVAtk+IVDef+IVHP45P_{\text{IV}} = 50 \cdot \frac{\mathrm{IV}_{\text{Atk}} + \mathrm{IV}_{\text{Def}} + \mathrm{IV}_{\text{HP}}}{45}

Each IV point is worth about 1.1 showcase points. A 100% IV Pokémon adds 50 points. While this is a small portion of the total possible points, it can be a deciding factor especially in highly contested Showcases that might be found in densely populated areas like cities.

The XXL bonus: 178 points

BXXL={178if XXL0otherwiseB_{\text{XXL}} = \begin{cases} 178 & \text{if XXL} \\ 0 & \text{otherwise} \end{cases}

XXL Pokémon get a glat 178 point bonus added to their score. Without this bonus, a heavy XL could outscore a lighter XXL.

Smax⁡=800+150+50+178=1178S_{\max} = 800 + 150 + 50 + 178 = 1178

Worked example: an XXL Pikachu

Pikachu averages 0.40 m and 6.00 kg, and its XXL ceiling is 1.75 (0.70 m). Take an XXL Pikachu that’s 0.68 m and 10.90 kg with 12/14/15 IVs:

Pheight=800⋅0.68/0.401.75≈777.14Pweight=150⋅10.90/6.001.75+0.5≈121.11PIV=50⋅12+14+1545≈45.56BXXL=178S≈777.14+121.11+45.56+178=1121.81\begin{aligned} P_{\text{height}} &= 800 \cdot \frac{0.68 / 0.40}{1.75} \approx 777.14 \\ P_{\text{weight}} &= 150 \cdot \frac{10.90 / 6.00}{1.75 + 0.5} \approx 121.11 \\ P_{\text{IV}} &= 50 \cdot \frac{12 + 14 + 15}{45} \approx 45.56 \\ B_{\text{XXL}} &= 178 \\ S &\approx 777.14 + 121.11 + 45.56 + 178 = 1121.81 \end{aligned}

That Pikachu scores about 1,122. A Pikachu of exactly average height and weight with perfect IVs scores only about 574.

Why the score is a range

In short: rounding. The game shows height and weight rounded to two decimal places, but it scores the exact values. A Pikachu shown at 0.68 m could really be anywhere from 0.675 to 0.685 m, so the example above scores somewhere between about 1,116 and 1,128:

1116.0≲S≲1127.61116.0 \lesssim S \lesssim 1127.6

Small species have the widest ranges, because 0.005 m is a bigger share of their height. That’s why the calculator shows a range.

Type and buddy showcases

Some showcases accept any Pokémon of a type, or any Pokémon that has reached a buddy level. They use the same formula, but the average height, average weight, and k come from one of two places:

  • Its own species: each entry is compared to its own species, so a big Pidgey can beat a Celesteela. Most showcases have scored this way since September 2024, and it’s what this calculator uses.
  • One reference species: every entry is compared to the same species, so naturally tall species win easily. Type showcases worked this way for most of 2024, and the October 2024 Grass, Fire, and Water showcases briefly returned to it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the highest possible showcase score?

1,178 points: 800 for height, 150 for weight, 50 for IVs, and the 178-point XXL bonus. To earn all of them, a Pokémon has to be an XXL at its species’ height ceiling, at the heaviest XXL weight, with perfect 15/15/15 IVs.

Do IVs matter in showcases?

Yes, a little. IVs are worth up to 50 points, about 1.1 points per IV. Height is worth up to 800 points, so a few centimeters usually matter more than perfect hundo IVs.

Do CP and level change the showcase score?

No. The score uses only height, weight, IVs, and the size label, so powering up a Pokémon doesn’t change its score.

Where do I find my Pokémon’s size label?

On the Pokémon’s screen, next to its height and weight. It reads XXS, XS, XL, or XXL. A Pokémon of average size shows no label.

XXS Galarian Moltres

XL Mewtwo

XXL Ursaluna

Why does the calculator show a range instead of one score?

The game rounds height and weight to two decimal places but scores the exact values with greater precision. The range covers every exact height and weight that rounds to the numbers you entered. Leaving IVs blank widens it further, by up to 50 points.

Which Pokémon should I enter in a type showcase?

Most type showcases compare each Pokémon to its own species, so the winner is whichever entry is closest to its species’ size ceiling. The biggest overall Pokémon does not always win. An XXL almost always beats an XL, even if the XL is taller or heavier due to the 178-point bonus. Using this calculator, you can score each of your candidates before the showcase goes live, and favorite or tag them for the future.
