Spotlight Hour is a weekly one-hour Pokémon GO event. A featured Pokémon, sometimes two or three, spawns much more often in the wild, and trainers get a bonus for the hour, like 2× Catch Candy.

When is Spotlight Hour in Pokémon GO?
Every Thursday from 6 to 7 p.m. local time. It starts at 6 p.m. wherever you are, so it reaches each time zone in turn.
Some events add an extra Spotlight Hour on another day of the week, so check the date of each one in the list.
Is Spotlight Hour on Tuesday or Thursday?
Thursday. Spotlight Hour used to run on Tuesdays. After a break in spring 2026, it came back on Thursdays starting June 18, 2026.

What bonuses can Spotlight Hour have?
Each Spotlight Hour has a bonus that changes from week to week: 2× Catch Candy, 2× Catch Stardust, 2× Catch XP, 2× Transfer Candy, or 2× Evolution XP.
The bonus lasts only for the hour, so save your evolutions for an Evolution XP week and your transfers for a Transfer Candy week. Use the bonus filter to see which Pokémon came with each one.
Are Shiny odds boosted during Spotlight Hour?
No. Shiny odds stay at the normal rate, but the featured Pokémon spawns so often that you get many more chances to find one. A Shiny icon in the list marks each featured Pokémon that can be Shiny.
How is Spotlight Hour different from Community Day?
Community Day is a three-hour monthly event with boosted Shiny odds and, usually, an exclusive attack for the featured Pokémon’s evolution. Spotlight Hour is a shorter weekly event without those extras. See every past and upcoming one on our Community Days list.
