Gold and Silver introduced the Dark and Steel types, along with moves like Crunch, Iron Tail, Megahorn, and Extreme Speed. Weather also debuted in Gen 2, introducing Rain Dance, Sunny Day, and Sandstorm.
Generation 2 also split Special into Special Attack and Special Defense, introduced held items, and added breeding, which brought Egg Moves to the series.
