How it works
Combat Power (CP) combines a Pokémon's base stats, its three Individual Values (IVs), and its level. IVs run from 0 to 15 for Attack, Defense, and Stamina, so a perfect spread is 15/15/15. The IV percentage is the total of the three out of 45, so 15/15/15 is 100% and a 10/10/10 floor is about 67%.
Team GO Rocket and Shadow Raid catches set the encounter level and the lowest IVs you can get:
- Team GO Rocket encounters from Grunts, Leaders, and Giovanni are Level 8, or Level 13 when weather boosted.
- Shadow Raid catches are Level 20, or Level 25 when weather boosted.
- Shadow Raid catches use a 6/6/6 IV floor.
- The all-IV view shows theoretical CP for every IV spread, from 0/0/0 to 15/15/15.
Powering up raises the level and the CP, but never the IVs. The CP a Pokémon shows at catch is the fastest way to spot a high-IV Shadow Dragonair before you spend any Stardust.
