    Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Shuckle rank so high in Little League?

Shuckle has the highest combined Defense and Stamina of any Pokémon in the game, paired with very low Attack. That shape is ideal for any CP-capped league because the low Attack lets Shuckle climb to a much higher level under the CP 500 cap, and the bulk multiplies through a higher CPM. Shuckle’s movepool keeps it as more of a stat-product curiosity than a true Little League meta threat, but its bulk ceiling is real.

Which Pokémon are eligible for Little League?

Eligibility depends on the cup rules in effect when the format runs. The classic Little Cup restricts entries to first-stage Pokémon with no prior evolution and a maximum CP of 500. Some season rotations layer extra type or species restrictions on top. This leaderboard ranks every Pokémon that has a valid build at CP 500 — when a cup is live, cross-reference Niantic’s rules to confirm the current eligibility list.

How does the CP 500 cap change the optimal IV strategy?

A CP 500 cap is much tighter than Great League’s CP 1500, so the level-versus-IV trade-off becomes extreme. Most Pokémon hit the cap at very low levels, which means the rank 1 IV spread is almost always 0/15/15 — the lowest possible Attack to maximize the level lift, paired with maxed Defense and Stamina. The level column in this table shows just how low some Little League rank 1 builds end up.

Why do some Pokémon show very low levels like 6 or 8?

High base-stat Pokémon hit CP 500 at extremely low levels. A bulky Pokémon with strong base stats can fit under CP 500 only at levels in single digits. The half-step level the table shows is the highest level that keeps the Pokémon under the cap for its rank 1 IV spread. Powering one of these Pokémon up by even a single half-step would bust the cap.

Are Shadow forms included in this Little League leaderboard?

No — we exclude Shadow forms here to keep the table focused on the standard meta. Shadows in Little League follow a different IV preset because of their 1.2× attack and 0.83× defense multipliers, which shifts the optimal spread. Each Pokémon’s Pokédex page includes its Shadow rank 1 build alongside the standard one when applicable.

Does the table account for the Little Cup’s evolution restriction?

No — this is a pure stat-product ranking that does not filter by evolution stage. Some Pokémon at the top of the list cannot enter the classic Little Cup because they evolve from another Pokémon, and others may be excluded by season-specific rules. Sort the table by Stat Product to get the raw bulk ranking, then use the Pokédex page to confirm cup eligibility for the season you are playing.
