Mega Evolution Boosts by Type
Which types each Mega and Primal Pokémon boosts in raids.
Mega Evolving a Pokémon during a raid gives every trainer in the lobby a damage boost, making it one of the most impactful moves you can make in Pokémon GO. When a Mega or Primal Pokémon is active, all attacks that match its typing deal 1.3x damage (+30%), while attacks of every other type still receive a 1.1x (+10%) boost. A few standout picks like Primal Kyogre, Primal Groudon, and Mega Rayquaza cover three types instead of two. Understanding which Mega or Primal to bring can be the difference between a tight finish and a comfortable win.
Mega Evolution also gives trainers bonus rewards when catching Pokémon. Under certain circumstances, like when a raid has more than enough trainers to succeed, it can be more important to Mega Evolve for the Candy XL chance increase rather than extra damage. When Mega Evolving for the extra XP and candy, be sure your Mega or Primal boosts at least one of the types of Pokémon you are catching.
