How to Unlock Item Customization

To unlock Item Customization, you must first locate Smearguru in Bleak Beach. Once found, he will make a request for you to bring him a crushed Leppa Berry.

To obtain a crushed Leppa Berry, you need a Pokémon with the “Crush” Ability. Smearguru will direct you to find Pawmo, which can be found by creating the “Tantalizing Restaurant” habitat.

After finding Pawmo, give it a Leppa Berry and ask it to “Make me some paint”. After a short wait, Pawmo will provide you with Red Paint.

Finally, return the Red Paint to Smearguru to complete his request and unlock Item Customization.

How to Customize Items

Bring Items to Smearguru

One of the ways of Customizing Items is by bringing them to Smearguru. By bringing items to him, he can recolor them with different colors, patterns, and even customize the color of individual segments.

Use Paint Balloons

The other way of Customizing Items is by using Paint Balloons to recolor placed items without having to pick them up.

To use a Paint Balloon, you must first craft it using several types of Colored Paint. Once crafted, you can throw the Paint Balloon at the item you want to color.
