What To Bring To GO Fest IRL

Portable Chargers & Cables

No item is more important to bring to GO Fest than a good, portable charger. As you’ll have Pokémon GO running almost all day, you can expect your device’s battery to drain steadily, particularly if you’re using an older model. Make sure you can stay powered on all day by investing in portable chargers with a large storage capacity – and don’t forget any cables you may need to plug them in, too.

Pro Tip: To increase your battery life even more, be sure to toggle on “Battery Saver” mode under the “General” tab in “Settings”.

Dittobase Recommendations:

  • Anker Nano Power Bank (30W, Built-In USB-C Cable)

Phone Coolers

With Pokémon GO Fest 2025 taking place during the summer, you can expect temperatures to get warm. Keep your phone from overheating by bringing along a phone cooler. These handy phone accessories use both active and passive cooling methods (i.e. fans and thermally conductive materials) to circulate cool air and draw heat away from your device.

Our advice? Don’t underestimate the amount of heat your device will generate during GO Fest – this is an item you’ll be grateful you invested in, should temperatures climb during your experience.

Dittobase Recommendations:

Water & Hydration Packets

Lots of physical activity combined with warm, summer weather means you’ll likely be doing a lot of sweating during GO Fest. Make sure you stay hydrated by bringing along a large, reusable water bottle that you can refill at water stations at the park or in your host city throughout the day. We recommend pre-filling it with ice and water at the start of the day to keep your H2O cold as the day heats up.

To be even more prepared, toss a few hydration packets in your bag as well to mix in with water. These will help to restore the salts and electrolytes your body loses from sweating, ensuring you stay healthy and hydrated all day long.

Dittobase Recommendations:

Sunscreen

You’ll be spending a lot of time outside in the sun during GO Fest. Keep your skin safe by bringing along some SPF to protect any exposed skin from the sun’s harmful rays, as well as a hat to prevent your scalp from burning. Don’t forget to reapply sunscreen throughout the day as well, especially if you’re sweating.

Dittobase Recommendations:

Snacks

While there will likely be food trucks or other food vendors at the park, you might be having too much fun to stop playing and wait in line. We recommend bringing along a few travel-friendly, shelf-stable snacks that won’t melt or get sticky in warm temperatures – think: granola bars or dried fruit – to munch on during the day and keep energy levels high and stomachs happy.

Dittobase Recommendations:

Poncho or Umbrella

This one will entirely depend on the weather during your Go Fest event. If the skies look sunny and clear, you can leave these items behind. However, if storm clouds look like they might be heading your way, err on the side of caution and bring along a lightweight poncho and/or a portable umbrella. Better safe than sorry – especially when it comes to your electronics!

Don't sleep on phone umbrellas either. They might look silly, but you'll be the one laughing when your phone stays dry during sudden storms.

Dittobase Recommendations:

Comfortable Footwear

You’ll be doing A LOT of walking during GO Fest. While it’s true you’ll barely notice how many miles you’ve traveled because of how much fun you’ll be having, your feet will certainly start complaining if you didn’t wear appropriate footwear. Plan for a full day of activity on your feet, which means supportive, athletic sneakers are likely your best bet.

Pro Tip: Be sure to break in your sneakers before the big day to prevent potential blisters.

How To Prepare for GO Fest In-Game

Clear Out Extra Pokémon

You’ll be catching a lot of Pokémon during GO Fest, so every bit of storage space counts! Before you start investing in upgrading your storage space, first take a look at your current Pokémon roster. Now’s the perfect time to clear out any unnecessary duplicates to free up some Pokémon storage space without the need for any extra spending.

Upgrade Your Pokémon Storage

After you’ve transferred any unwanted Pokémon, take a look at your remaining storage. To avoid having to free up storage space during the event (and trust us, you won’t want to waste your time on that in the middle of all the excitement!), we generally recommend having free space for at least 1,000 Pokémon. However, the amount you choose to free up can depend entirely on your play style and budget.

For example, if you plan on focusing your time completing Raids over catching wild spawns, you can probably get away with less storage space. Regardless, make sure you have some space freed up to store all the exciting new Pokémon you’ll catch during the event.

Pro Tip: Be on the lookout for special deals on Pokémon storage space in the Pokémon GO Web Store leading up to the event.

Clear Out Extra Items

Between Raid rewards and PokéStop spins, you can expect to receive a lot of items during your GO Fest experience. Prepare for this beforehand by discarding items you tend to not use often, or those that have more efficient counterparts.

For example, you can discard some Potions and Super Potions to free up more space for Hyper Potions and Max Potions. Take a look at any items that have been accumulating over time, as well. Now might be a good time to use up some of those Rare Candy, Fast TMs or Charged TMs you’ve been stockpiling!

Stock up on Poké Balls

Poké Balls, Great Balls and Ultra Balls will be one of your most precious resources during GO Fest. There will be a lot of exciting Pokémon to encounter, and the last thing you want is to run out of balls when you’re able to catch that rare Shiny or perfect CP.

The amount you carry will depend on your bag space and budget, but we generally recommend having at least 1,000 of each type on hand. However, you can adjust this based on your play style.

For example, having lots of Poké Balls on hand might be more of a priority if you intend on letting your Pokémon GO Plus + run throughout the day on Auto Catch. If not, you could prioritize balls with higher catch rates, such as Great Balls or Ultra Balls.

Upgrade Your Item Storage

Once you’re done clearing out unwanted items, make sure you have some storage space left for items that you’ll receive during GO Fest. While the amount you choose to keep open can vary, you’ll want to make sure you have enough wiggle room throughout the day to receive Research Task rewards or to spin stops if you’re running low on Poké Balls. That said, if you don’t mind managing your inventory throughout the day or you have ample Item storage space already, this may not be necessary.

Pro Tip: Be on the lookout for special deals on Item storage space in the Pokémon GO Web Store leading up to the event.

Stock up on Premium Battle Passes

One of the most exciting parts of Pokémon GO Fest 2025 is the debut of Crowned Shield and Crowned Sword. Trainers can expect to do a lot of Raids throughout the day of these Pokémon and others soon to be announced, so Premium Battle Passes will be a must.

We recommend having at least 100 Premium Battle Passes on hand per day, although you may want more or less depending on how much time you plan on playing during your GO Fest weekend. For example, if you intend on getting the Citywide Gameplay Add-On for multiple days in your host city, you’ll likely want even more so you don’t miss out on any of the Raid action.

There you have it, trainers. We hope this guide has helped you feel more prepared for Pokémon GO Fest 2025 and that you have the best time exploring your host city.
