Best Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO for Raids
Every Shadow Pokémon ranked by eDPS with the 1.2× attack and 0.83× defense Shadow multipliers applied.
Every Shadow Pokémon in Pokémon GO, ranked by effective DPS (eDPS) and total damage output (TDO) at Level 40 with 15/15/15 IVs. The 1.2× attack and 0.83× defense Shadow multipliers are baked into every calculation. Rankings average type effectiveness across every Mega, Legendary, and Mythical raid boss in the game, so Shadows that hit most bosses super-effectively rank above those that get resisted.

Best Attackers by Type
Frequently Asked Questions
Are Shadow Pokémon better than regular Pokémon?
In PvE raids, yes. The 1.2× attack multiplier means a Shadow of the same species deals about 20% more damage per hit than its regular counterpart. The 0.83× defense multiplier matters less in raids (compared to PvP) since dodging and revives already cover most incoming damage.
How much damage do Shadow Pokémon do?
Each hit lands for 20% more damage thanks to the 1.2× attack multiplier. That applies to Fast Moves and Charged Moves equally, and it multiplies with weather boost, same-type attack bonus, and Mega-party boosts.
Is a 0-IV Shadow better than a 100-IV regular?
For raid DPS, usually yes. The 1.2× attack boost is larger than the gap between 0 and perfect IVs on the same species, so a low-IV Shadow typically out-damages a hundo non-Shadow.
Should I purify my Shadow Pokémon?
Not if you want the raid DPS boost. Purifying removes the 1.2× attack bonus permanently. That being said, Shadow Pokémon cannot Mega Evolve, so purifying for the hundo to have a hundo Mega could be a good play. If you collect 100% Pokémon or are trying to fill the 4-star Pokédex, purifying a non-meta relevant Pokémon has little consequence, as it won’t see much battle anyway.
Which Shadow should I unfrustrate first?
During Team GO Rocket takeovers and some other special events, you can use normal charge TMs to remove frustration from your shadow Pokémon. It's worth spending the charged TM on any Shadow Pokémon you think you'll use either in Raids or the GO Battle League.
Do Shadow Pokémon stack with weather boost?
Yes. The 1.2× Shadow attack multiplier and the 1.2× weather boost stack multiplicatively with same-type attack bonus and Mega boosts. A weather-boosted Shadow hitting super-effective is the highest per-hit damage the game produces.
Are Shadow Pokémon good in PvP or only raids?
Primarily raids. In PvP the 0.83× defense multiplier means Shadows take 20% more damage, which usually outweighs the 1.2× attack for bulky meta picks. A few glass-cannon species still work, but the rankings on this page are PvE-only.
How do I get a Shadow Legendary?
The best way to get a Shadow Legendary is by completing a Legendary Shadow Raid. You can also rescue a Shadow Legendary from Giovanni using a Super Rocket Radar.

If you are comparing a Shadow to its Mega alternative, the best Mega Pokémon ranking runs the same eDPS model on Mega Evolutions.
