          • Silver Pinap Berry

Out of all of the items in Pokémon Go, Berries are some of the most helpful to have on hand. Make sure you understand what each type of Berry does and when to use them so you can maximize their usefulness, improve your gameplay and catch your favorite Pokémon with ease.

            Razz Berry

Primary Use: Feed to a catchable Pokémon to make it 1.5x easier to catch.
            Unlocks at Level 8.

This type of Berry is pink with green leaves and resembles a raspberry. Its primary use is to be fed to a catchable Pokémon to make it 1.5x easier to catch and less likely to break out of a Poké Ball. You can also feed Razz Berries to Pokémon defending Gyms currently controlled by your Team to slightly increase their “motivation,” which is reflected by an increased Combat Power (CP).

Each Berry you feed to a Pokémon defending a gym will earn you 30 Stardust. You can feed Razz Berries to Buddy Pokémon as well to increase their happiness by one-third each time they’re eaten – feed your Buddy Pokémon three of them, and you’ll earn a heart, which in turn increases your friendship level with them.

You can obtain a Razz Berry in the following ways:

            • Spin a Pokéstop or Gym photo disc
            • Complete specific Field and Special Research tasks
            • Open a found item gift from a Buddy Pokémon
            • Achieve certain level-up rewards

            Nanab Berry

Primary Use: Feed to a catchable Pokémon to reduce its movement.
            Unlocks at Level 4.

This type of Berry is light pink with a yellow tip and resembles a bunch of bananas. Its most common use is to be fed to a catchable Pokémon to reduce its movement, making it easier for you to aim your Poké Ball to catch the Pokémon. Nanab Berries are especially useful for flying Pokémon that move erratically, such as Zubat or Yanma.

Like Razz Berries, you can also feed Nanab Berries to Pokémon defending Gyms currently controlled by your Team to earn 30 Stardust and slightly increase their “motivation,” reflected via Combat Power (CP), or to Buddy Pokémon to increase their happiness by one-third each time they’re eaten.

You can obtain a Nanab Berry in the following ways:

            • Spin a Pokéstop or Gym photo disc
            • Complete certain Field and Special Research tasks
            • Open a found item gift from a Buddy Pokémon
            • Achieve certain level up rewards

            Pinap Berry

Primary Use: Feed to a catchable Pokémon to double the amount of Candy earned from catching it.
            Unlocks at Level 18.

This type of Berry is yellow with green leaves and resembles a pineapple. Its primary use is to be fed to a catchable Pokémon to double the amount of Candy you’ll earn from catching it. Note that this effect stacks with any other Candy bonuses that may be in effect at the time.

Similarly to Razz Berries and Nanab Berries, you can feed Pinap Berries to Pokémon defending Gyms controlled by your Team to slightly increase their “motivation,” reflected via Combat Power (CP). Each Berry you feed to a Pokémon defending a gym will earn you 30 Stardust. You can also feed them to Buddy Pokémon to increase their happiness by one-third each.

You can obtain a Pinap Berry in the following ways:

            • Spin a Pokéstop or Gym photo disc
            • Complete certain Field and Special Research tasks
            • Open a found item gift from a Buddy Pokémon
            • Achieve certain level-up rewards
            • Gift from a friend

            Golden Razz Berry

Primary Use: Feed to a catchable Pokémon to make it 2.5x easier to catch.
            Unlocks at Level 10.

This type of Berry is golden orange with green leaves and looks like the standard Razz Berry in different colors. However, despite their similar appearance, Golden Razz Berries are much more desirable in Pokémon Go. Their most common use is to be fed to a catchable Pokémon to make it 2.5x easier to be caught and less likely to break out of a Poké Ball. This effect is especially useful for powerful Raid Bosses, such as Legendaries, or rare spawns you don’t want to risk breaking out and fleeing.

You can feed Golden Razz Berries to Pokémon defending a gym controlled by your team to restore them to full "motivation” and Combat Power (CP). Each Berry you feed to a Pokémon defending a gym will earn you 30 Stardust. Similarly, you can feed Golden Razz Berries to a Buddy Pokémon to fill their happiness completely with just one berry.

You can obtain a Golden Razz Berry in the following ways:

            • Spin a Pokéstop or Gym photo disc with an Ultra Buddy Pokémon
            • Complete certain Field and Special Research tasks
            • Win certain Raids

            Silver Pinap Berry

Primary Use: Feed to a catchable Pokémon to make it 1.8x easier to catch and to get 2.3x more Candy from catching it.
            Unlocks at Level 20.

This type of Berry is silver with green leaves and looks like a standard Pinap Berry, except in different colors. However, its primary use is more effective, as Silver Pinap Berries make a catchable Pokémon 1.8x easier to catch as well as increase the amount of Candy received from catching it by 2.3x. This is especially useful for rare Pokémon you may not encounter often, therefore making its Candy difficult to come by.

You can also feed Silver Pinap Berries to Pokémon defending a gym controlled by your team to slightly increase their “motivation,” reflected via Combat Power (CP). Each Berry you feed to a Pokémon defending a gym will earn you 30 Stardust. You can also feed them to a Buddy Pokémon to fill their happiness completely with just one Berry.

You can obtain a Silver Pinap Berry in the following ways:

            • Spin a Pokéstop or Gym photo disc with an Ultra Buddy Pokémon
            • Complete certain Field and Special Research tasks
            • Receive as a Go Battle League reward
            • Receive as an Adventure Sync reward
            • Achieve certain level-up rewards
            • Win certain Raids

Now that you understand how Berries work in Pokémon Go, you’ll be better armed to use them to your advantage on your travels. We wish you lots of luck getting the Berries you need, increasing your Candy and capturing your favorite Pokémon!
