Mega Malamar is the latest of four new Mega Evolutions revealed in the lead-up to Pokémon Legends: Z-A.

This reveal came as a video in the style of a news broadcast. A news anchor delivers breaking news about the Malamar popularity boom in Lumiose City.

Mega Malamar is a Dark- and Psychic-type Pokémon, meaning its typing does not change when it Mega Evolves.

Malamar's brain enlarges, and its psychic powers become much stronger when it undergoes Mega Evolution. Mega Malamar can use its enhanced psychic abilities to completely change the personality of a human and even alter their memories.

Trainers will be able to use Mega Malamar in battle in the upcoming game Pokémon Legends: Z-A, releasing on the Nintendo Switch on October 16th, 2025.
